According to AMD’s marketing materials, these extraordinary frame rates require pairing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, or even the mobile Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with high-end GPUs like the RTX 5080 or RTX 5090D, fast 6000 MT/s CL30 memory, disabling Windows Virtualization-Based Security, and enabling AMD’s Smart Access Memory.
Performance Claims Meet Reality
AMD validated its 1,000 FPS claims through tests at 1080p resolution on six top esports games, demonstrating that under perfectly optimized system conditions, its X3D chips can maintain these extreme frame rates. However, no consumer monitors exist that can display 1,000 FPS—current high-end displays top out at 540 Hz, with emerging 750 Hz panels just entering the market. Intel Core i7 13700K and Core i9 14900K systems reportedly suffered crashes and stability issues at events like the FNCS Globals and Esports World Cup, where observers noted multiple Core i9 14900K machines failing every few hours.
While 1,000 FPS far exceeds any monitor’s refresh rate, the raw performance headroom can still yield measurable input-lag reductions for competitive players.
