Apple TV+ achieved its most successful Emmy performance ever at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2025, securing a total of 22 wins and breaking records across multiple categories. The streaming service’s satirical comedy “The Studio” became the highest-winning freshman comedy in Emmy history, while the psychological thriller “Severance” led the drama field.

Record-Breaking Comedy Performance

“The Studio,” co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, dominated with 13 awards, surpassing FX’s previous freshman comedy record of 10. The series won Outstanding Comedy Series and earned Rogen four personal Emmys for acting, writing, and directing. His emotional acceptance—“I’m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me”—highlighted the show’s impact over veterans like “Abbott Elementary” and “Hacks.”

Additional wins included Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Bryan Cranston and technical honors in production design, casting, cinematography, and sound mixing—underscoring the show’s excellence both on-screen and behind the scenes.

“Severance” Leads Drama Categories

With a record 27 nominations—the most of any series this year—“Severance” secured eight wins, making it 2025’s most-awarded drama. Britt Lower received Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Helly Riggs, and Tramell Tillman made history as the first Black winner of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Merritt Wever added a Guest Actress win, and the series swept technical categories for production design and cinematography.

Despite its success, “Severance” ceded Outstanding Drama Series to HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” but its haul confirmed the strength of its memory-altering workplace thriller in a crowded field.

Platform Performance and Industry Impact

Apple TV+’s 22 wins placed it third among all networks and streamers, behind HBO and Netflix (30 wins each), validating its quality-driven content strategy. According to reporting by AppleInsider, Apple’s focus on creative autonomy has attracted top talent and delivered critical acclaim. Jamie Erlicht, head of Worldwide Video, noted that “great stories connect with audiences everywhere.”

Additional recognition came from the spy thriller “Slow Horses,” with Adam Randall winning Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. With “Severance” renewed for season three and “The Studio” greenlit for season two, Apple TV+ is poised to sustain its Emmy momentum.
