Meta will officially debut its first consumer-ready smart glasses featuring an integrated heads-up display—codenamed “Hypernova” and likely marketed as Meta Celeste—during CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s keynote at Connect 2025 on September 17. Priced at $800, the glasses incorporate a tiny display in the right lens for notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, and basic augmented-reality overlays, marking a major leap beyond the existing Ray-Ban Meta lineup (Engadget).
Hypernova glasses pair with an EMG wristband that senses subtle muscle movements in the wrist and fingers, enabling gesture-based controls without touching the frames—a consumer-friendly spin on Meta’s Orion neural interface prototype. Initial production will be limited to 150,000–200,000 units due to the advanced components and manufacturing complexity, reflecting Meta’s cautious rollout strategy for this new hardware category (Axios).
Beyond Hypernova, Meta plans refreshed Ray-Ban Meta models with upgraded cameras and battery life, plus expanded partnerships—including a forthcoming luxury-brand collaboration with Prada—to extend its smart glasses ecosystem across fashion and active-lifestyle segments. Enhanced Meta AI features will support longer conversational sessions on-device, personalized content recall, and contextual assistance, while a new developer toolkit will invite third-party apps to enrich the glasses’ functionality.
