SpaceX achieved a significant milestone this week, successfully launching 52 Starlink satellites across two consecutive days while surpassing the 2,000 satellite deployment mark for 2025. The twin launches on September 5 and 6 demonstrated the company’s increasingly rapid cadence in expanding its global internet constellation.

Record-Breaking Deployment Pace

The company launched 28 Starlink satellites on Friday, September 5, from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A aboard Falcon 9 booster B1069, marking the vehicle’s 27th flight. According to SpaceX, this mission achieved the company’s 500th successful booster landing on a drone ship, reaching the milestone when the first stage touched down on “Just Read the Instructions” in the Atlantic Ocean.

Just one day later on Saturday, September 6, SpaceX followed with another launch carrying 24 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 2:05 p.m. EDT using booster B1075 on its 20th flight, successfully landing on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship in the Pacific Ocean.

Surpassing 2,000 Satellites in 2025

The September 6 launch pushed SpaceX’s 2025 Starlink deployments past the 2,000 satellite threshold. According to Spaceflight Now, the company has now launched approximately 2,000 Starlink satellites across 78 missions in 2025 alone, contributing to a constellation that now comprises over 8,300 operational satellites.

Maintaining Launch Intensity

These missions represent part of SpaceX’s aggressive launch schedule, with the September 6 mission marking the company’s 112th Falcon 9 launch of the year. The rapid deployment rate has positioned SpaceX to potentially reach its target of at least 170 launches by year’s end, with the majority supporting the Starlink constellation expansion.

The week’s launches also included a September 3 mission that deployed 28 additional satellites from Florida, bringing the three-day total to 80 satellites launched across multiple missions. This pace reflects SpaceX’s production capacity, with the company reportedly manufacturing approximately 70 satellites per week at its Redmond, Washington facility.
