Roblox unveiled “Roblox Moments”, a TikTok-inspired 30-second short-form video feed at its Developers Conference on September 5, 2025, while simultaneously increasing its Developer Exchange rate by 8.5% to reward creators more generously.

“Roblox Moments” Brings Short-Form Sharing In-Platform

In beta for users aged 13 and up, Roblox Moments lets players capture, trim and share gameplay clips up to 30 seconds, add licensed music via DistroKid, and post descriptions before publishing to a scrollable feed. Viewers can react with emojis and jump straight into the featured experiences. Roblox highlighted that user-generated content has already amassed over 1 trillion views on YouTube, indicating strong demand for on-platform video discovery.

Later this year, Roblox will open an API for Moments so creators can build custom in-game clip systems, trending leaderboards and achievement highlights, further integrating short-form sharing into game design.

Enhanced Creator Earnings via DevEx Rate Hike

Effective September 5 at 10 AM PT, Roblox raised its DevEx conversion rate so developers now receive $380 instead of $350 for every 100,000 Robux redeemed, an 8.5% increase (Business Wire). CEO David Baszucki noted creators earned over $1 billion through DevEx in the 12 months ending June 30, 2025, with top-1,000 developers averaging nearly $1 million, up 2.9× since 2020.

“By growing our top line faster than costs, we can share more with creators,” said Nick Tornow, Roblox Senior VP of Engineering.

AI Innovations and Platform Growth

Roblox showcased 400 AI models in production, including “4D Objects,” a tool for generating interactive assets—like drivable vehicles with opening doors—from text prompts (Mashable). The company also previewed real-time voice translation in English, Spanish, French and German, plus new Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text APIs to enhance social play.

These updates accompany robust user growth—111.8 million daily active users in Q2 2025, up 41% year-over-year—underscoring Roblox’s strategy to solidify its creator economy and counter social media rivals while addressing safety and content moderation concerns.
